Rest in Peace, Mark

June 24, 2019

We are very saddened at the passing of our Member of Parliament, Mark Warawa on June 20th. Mark was a person of great integrity and a loving husband, father and grandfather. He served the Langley area as MP for 15 years and always stayed true to his values and principles. Langley was a better place with Mark as our federal representative in Ottawa.

At this difficult time, we pray for Diane, their five children and ten grandchildren, that they find comfort in knowing the tremendous amount of respect Mark had among not only his constituents, but also among his MP colleagues in the House of Commons - across all parties.

As you know, Mark had announced his retirement as MP in January. He had plans to become a chaplain and also to continue advocating for better palliative care for all Canadians. His final days were spent in Langley Hospice and he and Diane were very thankful for the care that they received there. Mark has left a great legacy for public service, and we are very grateful that he chose “beautiful Langley” (as he referred to us in the House of Commons) for fifteen years of service. Those of us who served with him on the Board of Directors of the EDA and those of us who worked on his five campaigns are better people for knowing him. We will miss him dearly.
